Lionheart PTO's Mission Statement

The Lionheart PTO is organized to support and enhance the growth of the social skills, independent skills, and academic skills of the students at Lionheart Academy of the Triad and foster relationships among the school, families, staff, and community.

Monthly PTO Meetings

The Lionheart PTO meets once every month at 6:00 at Lionheart Academy.  The meetings are wonderful opportunities to stay informed, get involved, make a difference, meet new people, and see familiar faces.

Monthly Social Events

The Lionheart PTO hosts one social event per month.  Social events allow students to interact with one another outside of school, help siblings feel included, provide a chance for families and staff to communicate, and are a lot of fun!  Most of all, the social events create a sense of community.  Social events in the past have included a picnic, a trunk-or-treat, a swim at the Greensboro Aquatic Center, a visit to Rockin' Jump, and bowling at Spare Time.

Social Outings

The Lionheart PTO sponsors three social outings per year for the students at Lionheart.  In order for Lionheart students to acquire social skills, they must practice social skills in the community.  The first outing provides an opportunity for the students to get to know each other by completing a team-building program.  The other two outings involve the students using the social skills required to purchase items at a retail store and eat lunch at a restaurant.

Staff Appreciation

he Lionheart PTO coordinates "You are Wonderful" Wednesdays.  Every Wednesday, a parent brings in treats and a note of appreciation for the staff.  Parents have brought in bagels, muffins, mints, cupcakes, popcorn bags with Redbox gift cards, cookies, gum packets, chocolates, nuts, mini-pumpkin loaves and so on.  Sometimes the treats might have a catchy saying such as ""Muffin' to do but appreciate you!" or  just a simple thank-you note addressed to the whole staff.  It's a simple and easy way to show appreciation to those who work with our children everyday.  You can sign up at

The Lionheart PTO also coordinates teacher workday meals.  Each teacher workday, a parent or group of parents provides lunch for the staff.  Previous lunches have included home-cooked meals, Domino's Pizza, Panera Bread, and Zoe's Kitchen.  Supplying lunch for the staff gives them extra time to work and much needed fuel.  You can sign up at
