Thank you for your interest in Lionheart Academy! We serve students with level one and level two autism who are in grades 4-12th. Students we serve typically are served in the general education environment and may or may not receive inclusion special education support. We place a strong emphasis on formally teaching social skills and giving opportunities to practice those social skills. We offer two diploma tracks-a standard diploma (similar to the Future Ready Core) track and the Occupational Course of Study track that focuses on building work skills. We are able to provide differentiated instruction to meet our students where they are at academically. We offer small class sizes at an average of 14:1:1 (7:1) student to teacher ratio. We offer information sessions typically scheduled on the first Wednesday of each month from 9:00-1:00 for a small group of parents. These information sessions include a short presentation about Lionheart and a tour. There is also time to talk with administrative staff to see if Lionheart is a good fit for your student. If none of these times work for your schedule, please e-mail us and we will do our best to accommodate your request.
You can download our application here. Once you complete and submit the application we will review your application. If it seems like Lionheart can meet your student’s needs, we will schedule them to come for a visit. Visits last from 9:00-1:00. Your student will bring a snack and lunch and participate in one of our classrooms. We prepare the other students to interact with them so they will typically have a good day in class. This allows us to observe your student and determine if they are a good fit for Lionheart. It also provides your child with the opportunity to get a sense if Lionheart is a good fit for them. We also may request additional visits, including testing sessions, based on the information provided and student performance during their visit. Our team will discuss and will contact you to let you know if your student is accepted.
